Privacy Policy
Effective October 17, 2026
This policy explains what Debt Director (the iPhone, Android and web app, operated by Digital Summit LLC) collects, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. Debt Director does not sell your personal information.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email address, and the household you belong to (members, their roles and display names).
- Bank data you choose to connect through Plaid: account names, balances, transactions, and for cards and loans the balance, APR, minimum payment and due date. You sign in with your bank inside Plaid; Debt Director never sees or stores your bank username or password, and the connection is read-only — it cannot move money.
- What you enter or import: bills, debts, goals, paychecks and pay frequency, notes, categories and rules, and anything you tell Coach.
- Photos and documents you choose to scan (for example a paystub, a bill, or a picture of a bill list) so the app can read the details.
- Voice: when you use the microphone or say “Hey Coach”, speech is turned into text by your phone's speech recognition (on the device where supported). Debt Director receives the text of your request, not a recording.
- Subscription status: whether you have Plus, Pro or Elite. Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never receive your card number.
- Device and diagnostic data: a notification token if you allow notifications, app version, and error reports that help us fix crashes.
- Advertising data on the Free plan: Google AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier (on iPhone only if you allow tracking) and ad interaction data. Paid plans show no ads.
How we use it
- To run the app: build your payment plan, estimate safe-to-spend, track bills, debts, income and goals, and keep a shared household in sync.
- To answer Coach questions, read scanned documents and categorize transactions.
- To enforce plan limits (bank connections, Coach questions, scans), process subscriptions, prevent abuse, keep the service secure, and fix problems.
- To show ads on the Free plan.
Who processes it
- Google (Firebase and Google Cloud) stores your data and runs our servers in the United States.
- Google Vertex AI (Gemini) processes Coach questions and scanned documents to produce answers. Your data is sent only to answer your request and is not used to train Google's models.
- Plaid connects your bank accounts. Plaid's own privacy policy applies to the information you give Plaid.
- RevenueCat, Apple and Google Play handle subscriptions and receipts.
- Google AdMob serves ads to Free-plan users.
- We may disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a merger or sale of the business. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for others' marketing.
Your choices and rights
- View and change your information in the app at any time. Disconnect a bank from the Money tab — this also ends the bank connection at Plaid.
- Delete your account and data from Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing us (see Data deletion).
- Turn off “Hey Coach” on the Coach screen, and microphone, camera, photos, notifications and tracking in your phone's settings.
- Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, and to opt out of sale or targeted advertising. We honor these requests for every user — email us and we respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Security and retention
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to your household by account and role, and bank access tokens are kept only on our servers.
- We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your data from our systems — and your household's shared data if you are its last member — except records we must keep for legal, tax, billing-dispute or fraud-prevention reasons.
Children
- Debt Director is meant for adults managing their own money and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes and contact
- If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
